Pre-Approved Minutes from the August 13, 2025 Meeting
The Board of Trustees of the Archbold Community Library met on August 13, 2025 in the Reading Room of the library at 6:00 p.m. Vice President Brent Gnagey called the meeting to order at 6:02.
Roll call was answered by Vice President Brent Gnagey, Secretary Greg Nafziger, Andy Bentley, Jed Grisez, Kevin Seibert, Andrea Stevens, and Janet Wyse. Director Sonya Huser was also in attendance, as well as Fiscal Officer Jennifer Harkey.
As Andy Bentley has stepped down from the Presiden’t role, the election of officers needed to be discussed. Andrea Stevens moved to nominate the proposed slate of officers for 2025: Brent Gnagey as President, Kevin Seibert as Vice President, and Greg Nafziger as Secretary. Janet Wyse seconded and all voted in favor.
When officers change, or at the request of the Financial Institution, the following resolution needs to be made:
The powers authorized for each of these signers include:
- Open any deposit or share account(s) in the name of the Association.
- Endorse checks and orders for the payment of money or otherwise withdraw or transfer funds on deposit with the Financial Institution.
- Enter into a written lease for the purpose of renting, maintaining, accessing, and terminating a safe deposit box in the Financial Institution.
Two signatures are required for the above transactions.
Janet Wyse made a motion to approve the resolution listing the powers of authorized signers. Greg Nafziger seconded and all voted in favor.
The minutes from the May 14, 2025 regular meeting were approved as presented.
Ms. Huser presented the Director’s Report, including circulation statistics for May 2025, June 2025, and July 2025, which compare those months to the four previous years.
Ms. Huser attended a number of webinars and meetings, including a NORWELD Directors’ Roundtable, an Ohio Library Council webinar wrap-up on the State budget, and five webinars found through NORWELD.
In programming news, registration for fall Lego clubs and Story Times and Story Hours begins Wednesday, September 3rd at 9:30 am. Sessions for Story Times and Story Hours begin the week of September 22nd. LEGO Clubs make their return in October.
As far as adult programming, there is Pagemasters. The idea behind this book club is that members come having read something; members will talk about their reading choices the previous month. We do not all read the same thing. There are drinks like coffee and tea and also snacks. The Book Club meets for two hours once a month, but most members just drop in when they have time; they don’t necessarily stay for two hours.
Cookin’ by the Book continues to be popular with a dedicated, albeit small following. The next meetup is Thursday, August 28th at 6:30 in the Community Room. Cookin’ by the Book generally meets the last Thursday of the month; meetups for the rest of 2025 are listed on small flyers and on the calendar.
Finally, Director Huser reminded board members that the Friends of the Library wrap up their book sale by the end of the week.
A motion was made by Kevin Seibert and seconded by Andy Bentley to accept the Director’s report. All voted in favor.
Ms. Harkey presented the Fiscal Officer’s reports for the months ending May 31, 2025, June 30, 2025, and July 31, 2025. Revenue and Expenditures were as expected for all three months.
A motion was made by Janet Wyse and seconded by Jed Grisez to accept the Fiscal Officer’s report. All voted in favor.
As there was no New business, the assembled group moved on to Old and Other business; Kevin Sebert updated the group on the bay window project. (Windows have been ordered and the project may take place sometime this fall.) Brent Gnagey asked how the new security cameras are working out for the Library and encouraged Director Huser to practice exporting footage. Greg Nafziger made mention of the insulation on the outdoor air conditioning units. Again, the Board talked about how to get the word out to the public now that The Buckeye has ceased publication and will not be covering meetings.
The next regular meeting of the board is scheduled for October 8, 2025.
With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
Recorded by Director and Recording Secretary, Sonya Huser
