Programming

The library offers various programs for children.

Check our calendar for a complete listing of dates and times.

Story Time

Our Story Time is planned with 2 year olds and young 3 year olds in mind. These children can share with their attending adult a variety of crafts, stories, songs, and other fun activities. There are two half hour classes each week during the fall and winter sessions. Remember that these children must be accompanied by an adult, and in order to make this time a special time for the children, we ask that no siblings attend.

Story Hour

Those children ages 3 through 5 (who are not in kindergarten) are invited to sign up for our Story Hour classes. The library's Story Hour classes are taught by our Youth Services Librarian, who holds a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Classes teach creative expression, social skills, listening comprehension, and the foundations of reading through number and letter recognition and vocabulary building.  This is accomplished through the use of stories, crafts, plays and songs, and offering children a chance to make new friends. Four one hour long classes are offered each week during the fall and winter sessions. Class size is limited, so be sure to pre-register.

After School Programs

Throughout the year, special activities are planned after school for children in Grades K-5. Programs are often based on holiday themes, favorite authors, or particular crafts.

Summer Reading Program

During the summer months, the library conducts a Summer Reading Program for children who just finished Grades K-5. The program begins in June and runs for 5 weeks.
