Genealogy

Your ancestors left clues along the way: census, immigration, military records, family history, and pension records.

  • Ancestry Library Edition (IN LIBRARY ACCESS ONLY) Trace your genealogy using historical records, US Census records, military records, court, land, and probate records, vital and church records, directories, petitions for naturalization, passenger lists, and more. You must be in the library to access this database.
  • African American Heritage Search records, books, serials, and other historical records specific to African Americans to trace your gealogy or to do research.
  • Fold3 A premier collection of historical US military records that brings to life the details of America's military veterans with stories, photos, and personal documents.
  • HeritageQuest Search census records, books, serials, and other historical records to trace your genealogy.

A number of families have donated copies of their family history, genealogy, and memoirs to the library over the years. We gladly accept these contributions to our collection. Some of these genealogies and memoirs have been scanned and are available to be viewed online.

The library has a subscription to Ancestry.com which is available on the computer in the McLaughlin Room. This subscription is accessible only within the library.
