The Friends of the Library are seeking help!

The Friends of the Archbold Community Library are in need of volunteers to step up.

First of all, join the Friends for $5/year (or $100 for a lifetime!).

The Friends are a volunteer support group who give to the library in the form of money, time, and support for library policies. When you join the Friends, you are offering your financial support by paying yearly dues to an organization whose sole purpose is to support the library. Volunteer opportunities include helping at book sales or maybe helping decorate the library for a special holiday. Dues and money raised at fundraisers like the book sale go towards supporting things that the library needs, such as programming materials for our Summer Reading Program or supplies for our Makerspace for tweens and teens, for example.

Speaking of book sales, one benefit of joining the Friends is that you gain entry to the annual book sale in August one day before the general public! You can sign up to be a Friend at the Library's circulation desk at any time or at the door to the annual book sale.

Okay, now that you've joined the Friends, we're looking for help.

A couple of (unpaid) positions are available: Treasurer and/or Secretary. You could be one. You could be both!

The treasurer's main responsibility is to deposit and track dues and money raised at fundraisers and deposit it accordingly. You will track total balances from year to year and if money is allocated to the library, you will work with the library director to make it happen. As the treasurer, you will also attend our annual meeting in January and stay in communication with your fellow board members and the library director between meetings.

The secretary's main responsibility is to take notes on what is said and decided at that annual January meeting and relay it to members.

Any questions or interest in the openings on the Friends' Board can be directed to the Archbold Community Library's Director, Sonya Huser, at s.huser@archboldlibrary.org

She will be in contact with the current Friends board members.
